    The U.S. Social Security Admistration is not providing anyone a Certificate of Coverage! So, nobody such as an employee will be able to obtain a Digital Nomad Visa! Only self-employed or contract is being processed at which point it will be required to sign up for the Spanish Social security and make monthly payments as self-employed. If your country does allow the Certificate of Coverage, then the company, will pay SS directly to Spain, and yet if that specific country has a treaty for double taxation, then you may not be required but it all depends on your specific circumstances. So please make sure before you make the transition, keep in mind, the Spanish tax year and rules – resident vs non resident taxes(Beckham Law) as lots of taxation (personal, property, world assests, capital gain and wealth taxesin Spain!!! Trust me, its different depending on the region / providence when applying for the DNV from within Spain!

    In all honesty as usual Spain is so complicated with Tax etc. they will lose out to other countries. The thing is – if EU countries play their cards right Remote workers, who are usually very qualified people with an entrepreneurial spirit may wish to settle in the EU. With their skills!!

    Do you have to be present in Spain 100% of the time…or can you travel, for example back to the country for a short time where your company is
