Affiliate marketing is a popular way to earn money online by promoting products or services and earning a commission for every sale made through your referrals. While most people focus on popular and lucrative niches such as fashion, health, or technology, there are some weird and unusual affiliate marketing niches that can also bring in a ton of money. Here are 13 of the weirdest niches that have proven to be incredibly profitable.
1. Adult Toys and Accessories:
While it might not be everyone’s cup of tea, the adult industry is an evergreen market. With the rise of e-commerce, adult toys and accessories have become a popular choice for affiliate marketers. Given the private nature of these products, customers prefer discreet online shopping, making it a promising niche.
2. Bug Zappers:
For those looking to try something offbeat, promoting bug zappers can be a surprisingly lucrative niche. Insects can be quite frustrating, and people are willing to invest in pest control products, including bug zappers, to enjoy a peaceful evening outdoors.
3. Virtual Reality (VR) Gaming:
Virtual reality gaming has taken the gaming industry by storm. It’s a niche with a dedicated and passionate audience, willing to spend money on VR headsets, games, and accessories. Promoting VR-related products could be a unique and profitable option.
4. Cosplay Costumes and Accessories:
Cosplay, or costume play, has gained tremendous popularity in recent years. Fans love dressing up as their favorite characters from movies, TV shows, or video games. Affiliate marketers can tap into this niche by promoting cosplay costumes, accessories, and makeup.
5. Dog-Human Matching Outfits:
Pet owners adore their furry friends and often enjoy dressing them up in cute outfits. Dog-human matching outfits have become quite a trend, giving rise to a niche market that can be a profitable choice for affiliate marketers.
6. Survival Gear:
Preparing for disasters or outdoor adventures is a serious concern for many people. Survival gear, including emergency kits, first aid supplies, and camping equipment, is a niche that attracts a passionate audience. Affiliates in this niche can earn substantial commissions from recommending essential survival products.
7. Smart Home Technology:
As technology advances, the demand for smart home devices continues to grow. From voice-controlled assistants like Amazon Echo to innovative home security systems, the smart home technology niche offers an opportunity to earn big commissions.
8. Off-Grid Living:
The off-grid living niche caters to those who want to live entirely self-sufficiently, away from modern amenities. This niche includes products like solar panels, wind turbines, water filters, and even tiny homes. It appeals to individuals who are passionate about sustainability and self-reliance.
9. Subscription Boxes:
Subscription box services have become increasingly popular, offering curated packages delivered to customers’ doors on a regular basis. There are subscription boxes for various interests like beauty, food, and even pet-related products. Promoting subscription boxes can be a profitable niche.
10. Drones and Accessories:
Drones are no longer a niche product; they have become a mainstream technology that appeals to hobbyists, photographers, and videographers. Promoting drones, accessories, and drone-related services can be a compelling and unique affiliate marketing niche.
11. DIY Furniture Building:
The DIY and home improvement niche is vast, but specifically promoting DIY furniture building can be a profitable sub-niche. Many people now prefer to build their own furniture instead of buying expensive, pre-made pieces. Affiliates can earn commissions by recommending woodworking tools, plans, and tutorials.
12. Ski Resort Travel:
While travel is a popular niche in affiliate marketing, promoting specific types of travel can be lucrative. Ski resort travel caters to winter sports enthusiasts and vacationers looking for adventure on the slopes. Affiliates can earn commissions by promoting ski passes, accommodations, gear, and even tour packages.
13. Tiny House Living:
Tiny houses have become a trend for minimalists and those seeking a simpler, more sustainable lifestyle. Affiliates in this niche can promote tiny house plans, construction materials, compact appliances, and lifestyle products suitable for smaller living spaces.
In the world of affiliate marketing, thinking outside the box can lead to significant opportunities. These 13 weird and unusual niches prove that even the most unconventional ideas can bring in a ton of money. So, if you’re willing to step out of the mainstream and embrace the weird, these niches might be your ticket to success.

Finally you talk about what COULD qualify as a “niche”. I have no clue why everybody and their dog in the digital marketing space mixes up the term niche with what really is just a market, or market segment at best. A niche is a part of a market segment that is proven to be underserved and unsaturated, and unless qualified as such, it is just a market.
