15 Tips for Successful Thrifting | Join Me as I Resell Thrift Store Finds on Ebay | Making Money by Flipping Second-Hand Goods

Thrift shopping has become increasingly popular in recent years. Not only is it a sustainable way to shop, but it can also be a profitable business for those looking to make some extra money. Whether you’re a seasoned thrifter or just starting out, there are a few rules to keep in mind when thrifting for profit. Here are 15 rules to follow when thrift shopping with the intention of reselling items on platforms like eBay.

1. Research, Research, Research: Before heading to the thrift store, research popular items that sell well on eBay. Look for brands, styles, and trends that are in high demand.

2. Set a Budget: It’s easy to get carried away when thrifting, so set a budget for yourself to avoid overspending on items that may not sell for a profit.

3. Keep an Eye out for Quality: Look for items that are in good condition, with minimal signs of wear and tear. High-quality items will sell for more money and attract more buyers.

4. Check for Authenticity: If you’re looking for designer items, research how to authenticate them. Avoid purchasing counterfeit goods, as they can get you into legal trouble and damage your reputation as a seller.

5. Be Strategic with Your Time: Thrifting can be time-consuming, so be strategic with your time and focus on specific sections of the store where you’re most likely to find profitable items.

6. Be Open-Minded: Keep an open mind and be willing to explore different categories and styles. You never know what hidden gems you might find.

7. Take Advantage of Sales and Discounts: Thrift stores often have sales and discounts, so keep an eye out for these opportunities to maximize your profits.

8. Build Relationships with Thrift Store Staff: Get to know the employees at your favorite thrift stores. They may be able to give you insider tips on when new inventory arrives or help you find specific items.

9. Invest in Necessary Tools: Consider investing in tools like a smartphone with internet access and a portable scale to accurately measure and weigh items for shipping.

10. Think Outside the Box: Look for unique and rare items that may not be in high demand locally but could fetch a high price online.

11. Take Advantage of Half-Price Days: Many thrift stores have half-price days or other promotions. Take advantage of these opportunities to stock up on inventory at a fraction of the cost.

12. Keep an Eye on Trends: Stay up-to-date with current trends and be on the lookout for items that are currently in demand.

13. Check for Complete Sets: Look for complete sets of items like dishware, board games, or collectibles, as they can sell for a higher price than individual items.

14. Don’t Overlook Small Items: Small items like jewelry, accessories, and small collectibles can add up quickly, so don’t overlook them when thrifting.

15. Be Patient: Building a successful thrifting business takes time and patience. Don’t expect to turn a profit overnight, and be prepared to put in the work to build a successful resale business.

By following these 15 rules, you can maximize your profits and build a successful business through thrifting and reselling on platforms like eBay. Keep in mind that thrifting for profit requires dedication and hard work, but the potential for success is endless. Happy thrifting!

One mans or woman's junk is treasure for for other people, not all buy for worth. If something that's under 1.50 makes me happy and less stress people do tend to put some of us in very stressful TRAUMETIC dispositions, anything to relieve the stress and everyday pointing of fingers from drama queens and high maintenance selfish agendas, if something relaxing make me happy, I heal my stress with , healing from an environment I build to relieve my stress and depression, it's nobody BUISNESS to Stick their long witches noses in my business. If you are so concerned, pay for myself to see a Psychiatrist, unless you rather I spend $150 a year to heal myself, to heal yourself? I'm not the one asking for a lot of money and fees from my family not the jacks. These people lie to benefits agencies they are PRIVELEDGES to my benefits? Though I have never received a letter from any agencies
Telling myself my benefits are garnished because some things themselves WRONGLY they are allowed to take my benefits without one letter from the courts and I don't spend money on Narcotics, pot. And cigarettes, nor are we allow to take vacations I been trying to take my daughter to California though witches complain about this too. Don't spend 7000 a year for car expenses , don't own a car much less than two or three cars plus insurance. Gas. Repairs , tags. Renewals. Hair salons. Manicures. Pedicures. Expensive restaurants, have not been out to eat with my children nor grandchildren for over two years. Of which many take their families and grandchildren out every weekend , through the years. Am not allowed to throw my children nor grandchildren birthday parties nor buy them anything, so I don't spend on birthdays party themes. Food candy decorations invitations. Food like 90 percent of the people, who do these things, don't sneak in people's home to ruin their groceries we just bought. By lacing with chemicals and. Filthy Unwash hands. DELIBERATELY to make us sick of which my fever went up this morning, this is how I know a sadist psychopath has been. Our apt. To steal things and contaminate my apt knowing my grandchildren who are infants and toddlers will be here maybe. These people are psychopaths that nobody arrests because they are too busy trying to arrest myself and my son and daughter for NOTHING, sorry this is not for you though if I post on my page someone edits and erased

I was looking at the prices in your area and found out that in Calgary, Canada thrift stores are way cheaper. I usually go to USA and thinking of going to thrift stores, but prices are bit higher on other side of the border

No on that pink oval box. To me it looked like a home made ceramic project, lacking quality. Thrift stores will keep raising prices to their own demise. On ebay you have 148 million members, buying and selling. But 148 million shoppers do not walk into a thrift store in a years time. When they remove the profit margin for resellers they are cutting their own throats. Resellers have to drag the items home, clean them, research them, photograph them, list them and then using purchased bubble wrap and tape, package them. Thrift stores do none of that and want the same price? Not happening.

You can really tell which channels are run by people that know stuff (like this one) versus ones where someone is just bragging about their finds and bring NO value to the viewer.

Other considerations on the ceramic bowl is, its size and fragility. You have to carry, store and maintain it. I would like something less fragile for that ROI margin

The A&M mug that you passed over: some universities have a fanatic fan base and alumni base and A&M is one of them. I don’t know for sure that it would sell because of my experience, but I’m pretty positive that this kind of mug would sell in a store on campus on any of the campuses for quite a bit, and that somebody would be very happy to pick this up for their student and son or daughter or their alumni parent or friend
