Amazon FBA 2024 Tutorial: Step-by-Step Guide for Sending Your First Shipment

If you’re new to e-commerce and want to start selling products on Amazon, one of the first things you’ll need to do is send your inventory to Amazon’s fulfillment centers. This process, known as Amazon FBA (Fulfillment by Amazon), allows you to store your products in Amazon’s warehouses and have them handle the packing, shipping, and customer service for your orders.

Sending your first shipment to Amazon FBA can seem daunting, but with the right guidance, it can be a relatively straightforward process. In this tutorial, we’ll walk you through the steps to send your first shipment to Amazon FBA in 2024.

Step 1: Create an Amazon Seller Account
Before you can send your products to Amazon FBA, you’ll need to create an Amazon Seller account. If you don’t already have one, go to the Amazon Seller Central website and sign up for an account. There are different plans available, so choose the one that best suits your business needs.

Step 2: Set Up Your FBA Shipment
Once you have your seller account, the next step is to set up your FBA shipment. In your Seller Central dashboard, go to the “Inventory” tab and select “Manage FBA Shipments”. Then click on “Create a new shipment” and follow the prompts to enter the details of the products you want to send to Amazon’s fulfillment centers.

Step 3: Prepare Your Products for Shipment
Before you send your products to Amazon FBA, you’ll need to prepare them for shipment. This includes applying barcodes and labels as per Amazon’s guidelines, packing your products in secure and protective packaging, and creating a shipment plan in your Seller Central account.

Step 4: Print Shipping Labels and Prepare Shipment
After you’ve prepared your products for shipment, you’ll need to print the shipping labels and packing lists from your Seller Central account. Affix the shipping labels to your packages and make sure to include the packing lists inside.

Step 5: Ship Your Products to Amazon
Now that your products are ready to go, it’s time to ship them to Amazon’s fulfillment centers. You have the option to use Amazon’s discounted shipping rates through carriers like UPS or FedEx, or you can choose your own preferred carrier. Once your shipment is on its way, you can track its progress in your Seller Central account.

Step 6: Monitor Your Shipment
Once your products have been delivered to Amazon’s fulfillment centers, you can monitor their status in your Seller Central account. Amazon will receive and process your inventory, and you’ll be able to track your products as they become available for sale on the Amazon marketplace.

In conclusion, sending your first shipment to Amazon FBA is a crucial step in starting your e-commerce business. By following the steps outlined in this tutorial, you can ensure that your products are properly prepared and shipped to Amazon’s fulfillment centers, setting you on the path to success as an Amazon seller. Good luck!

Hi Travis, I am shipping used books. Would you suggest to box them separately and ship them in 1 big box? Is this going to be under FBA or FBM? Thank you in advance.

Hey @TravisMarziani I hope you can see this Im confused on the part about the shipping boxes. If the manufacturers are sending the product directly to the fulfillment centers, why are we still getting the package and worrying about needing to measure and weigh them? Sounds like FBM work

Are you serious? If you ship to Amazon you are spending more on the shipping than the product is worth. Lets say first from China to you, then from you to Amazon then from Amazon to the customer. 3x at least say the product is $100 and 3x shipping will cost you over say $50 plus the fees so you will actually add your own money to sell the product. Can you drop off your product at Amazon? This might be the profit margin to make a little money on the product. even if the product markup is 100% you will only get a small fraction of this.

Has anyone experienced this issue in the past? I have 4 products enrolled in FBA, but only 3 of them are visible in my FBA inventory. Can I still ship all 4 products to Amazon at this point or does it mean one product is not a part of FBA? Does anyone know why I am experiencing this issue?

Just going to post this onto all my subscribed youtube channels. Why does no one tell future amazon sellers that in order for you to reapply for a product that your trying to ungate that it takes 5 days for you to resubmit. Here is my background story of my current pain in the butt situation Im currently dealing with. I purchased a liquidation pallet as my first start up to my company, I plan on selling on multiple online website, Amazon being one of them. My pallet consists of faucets, pot fillers, and plumping like goods. My most profitable brands being Kohler, Moen, and Delta. ALL GATED of course, everyone advertises how easy it is to get ungated in random stuff like nike, toys, puma, and blah blah blah. Same stuff all across YouTube. HOW TF do I get ungated from Kohler, Delta, and Moen aka plumbing brands. In order to ungate I purchased 10 units straight from the manufacture just like the requirements suggested and I was declined now with auto-decline if I try to resubmit. Reason why? There was an issue with my invoice even though it provided all the correct information and it is NOT a receipt. I was provided a message saying it will take a whole 5 days to resubmit. Got ahold of customer support and even they admitted they don't know crap and are just basically robots. Why aren't sellers told about these issues…this kind of stuff makes people feel like they will make money when amazon customer support is total trash and amazon even holds your money hostage. I've had items sell and every item purchased says PENDING? What… did all the same person purchase my products and their card is janky???I understand that there are obstacles but I've run into almost every single one and it makes me think this isn't worth the money I've already invested. I wanted to get ungated in these brands because this is what I have to sell currently but now I have just swapped to Ebay and the traffic flow is a snails pace. Out of the 23 item pallet I have I was ungated in 9 items. But finding suppliers is difficult. Maybe everyone focuses on clothes and toys because its simple or easy but I didn't want to be everyone. I want to sell my current products. Any guidance or advice would be much appreciated.

Do we need additional boxe for each product, like you inserted those small boxes inside big box?
For a product in a transparent plastic packaging or eco friendly brown packaging, what's the case for those? Can we insert those directly into the big box or small boxes are needed to deliver to customer?
    Thanks

Hi travis! I just have some clarifications, so this product on the video did not come from China since the manufacturer send the products to your home address? Is this correct? Thanks Travis!

Hey Travis, this is most likely a little late but you didn't initially blur out your address in the 2nd section of the video
