Amazon FBA: What to Do If Your Inventory Goes Missing

Amazon FBA (Fulfillment by Amazon) is a convenient service for sellers who want to outsource their order fulfillment process to Amazon. However, one of the most common issues sellers face when using FBA is the loss of inventory. This can be a frustrating experience for sellers, as they rely on Amazon to store and ship their products to customers.

If you find yourself in a situation where Amazon has lost your inventory, the first step is to contact Amazon Seller Support. They will investigate the issue and try to locate your missing items. However, this process can take time and there is no guarantee that your inventory will be found.

In the meantime, there are a few things you can do to mitigate the impact of lost inventory. First, check your inventory levels on Amazon Seller Central to see if any other items are missing. If you have other products in stock, you can continue selling those while you try to locate the missing items.

You can also file a reimbursement claim with Amazon for the lost inventory. Amazon has a reimbursement policy in place to compensate sellers for lost or damaged inventory while in their possession. To file a claim, you will need to provide documentation such as invoices, packing slips, and shipping labels to prove that the items were sent to Amazon’s fulfillment centers.

It’s important to keep in mind that Amazon’s reimbursement process can be lengthy and complex. Sellers may need to follow up with Amazon multiple times to ensure that their claim is being processed. Additionally, not all claims are approved, so there is no guarantee that you will be reimbursed for your lost inventory.

To prevent future inventory loss, sellers can take steps to monitor their inventory closely. Regularly check your inventory levels on Amazon Seller Central and keep track of any discrepancies. It’s also a good idea to use inventory tracking software to help you keep tabs on your stock levels.

In conclusion, losing inventory can be a frustrating experience for sellers using Amazon FBA. While Amazon does have processes in place to help locate lost items and reimburse sellers for their losses, it is important for sellers to be proactive in monitoring their inventory and following up with Amazon to ensure that their claims are being processed. By taking these steps, sellers can minimize the impact of lost inventory on their business.

I sent in 11 pairs of shoes each worth $160+ on a shipment. According to the tracking it arrived at the facility and none of them were located. I’m just confused at how they could say 0 were located when it is a box full of inventory it just makes no sense to me. Now the case is closed.

I sent 4 bicycle backpacks to Amazon and they only scanned 1. I called and they said that I needed to show them a receipt of the items. But those backpacks have been bought a while back so I didn't have it… So instead of them having someone to double check the box… I needed to prove it. Why is it me that has to prove it? The guy who opened the box didn't look too much cause they were packed one on top of each other. So he basically opened the box… scanned one and then close the box.

I think I will soon be working with you. Amazon informed me they have destroyed nearly 650 units of my entire UK inventory after Amazon for no good reason deactivated my selling account. I believe those employees are too unhappy and overworked which is why they take drastic action so easily.

Amazon lost a shipment of books I sent in fba. It made it to Las Vegas, then it "got lost" in a transfer to Miami. Funny thing is 1 book out of 19 is checked in and listed for sale the other 18 is lost wtf! These were scarce advanced math text books, lowest prices mostly over $100 each, one was $271.00 where are they Amazon? I'm looking now to see if they listed them.
