Is Traveling & Living in India Hard? A Digital Nomad’s Perspective
As a digital nomad, I have had the opportunity to travel and live in various countries around the world. One of the most fascinating and challenging places I have experienced is India. The rich culture, vibrant colors, and diverse landscapes make India a truly unique and mesmerizing destination. However, there are also some challenges that come with traveling and living in India as a digital nomad.
One of the first challenges I encountered when traveling to India was the overwhelming and chaotic nature of the country. From the bustling streets to the crowded public transportation, navigating through the country can be quite challenging, especially for someone who is not familiar with the local customs and language. However, with patience and an open mind, I was able to adapt to the fast-paced lifestyle and learn to embrace the chaos.
Another challenge I faced while living in India was the stark contrast between the rich and the poor. The country is home to extreme poverty and wealth, and witnessing such inequality can be emotionally draining. It is important to be respectful and mindful of the local communities and to always approach each interaction with compassion and empathy.
Furthermore, the cultural differences between India and the Western world can also pose challenges for digital nomads. From the food to the social norms, India has its own set of customs and traditions that may take some time to get used to. However, I found that immersing myself in the local culture and learning about the customs and traditions helped me to better understand and appreciate the country.
Despite the challenges, living in India as a digital nomad has been an incredibly rewarding experience. The vibrant and diverse culture, the delicious cuisine, and the warm hospitality of the people have made my time in India unforgettable. The country is also home to beautiful landscapes, from the majestic Himalayas to the serene beaches of Goa, making it a paradise for nature lovers and adventure seekers.
Overall, traveling and living in India as a digital nomad can be hard at times, but the experience is enriching and full of incredible opportunities for personal growth and cultural exchange. It is a country that will challenge you, inspire you, and leave a lasting impression on your soul. So, if you are considering embarking on a digital nomad journey in India, I would encourage you to embrace the challenges and immerse yourself in all that this beautiful country has to offer. You will undoubtedly come out of the experience with a deeper understanding and appreciation for the rich tapestry of Indian culture and the resilience of its people.

Normally a cup of Chai (in Delhi) is RS 10
Your country with very very less population compared to India, will have very much reduced negatives of India…but people everywhere is India's charm n strength but your country(except NY, New Jersey)&many western countries wear a deserted look, as though in lock down time of India
.
South Indian people are very good 🙂 , as i had stayed 10 years in south.
Ben mention which area are best for living and safe in India, its useful for foreigners, south india is very safe and especially chennai and other part of TAMILNADU.
I have travelled to the Western world and I have experience women wearing reveling outfits can be treated badly.
French, Italy and the Eastern blocks can be unsafe to travel by a single lady if you are not wearing conservative clothes and keeping time sense you can go through unoticed.
I do travel alone in India too but I always tell anyone questioning that I am not alone and quickly move away. Every one wants to take your Biodata and it is very annoying. By the way alot of time they are protective to you in India. Help comes naturally in India you become a part of the people easily.
India wouldn't work for me, I have enough of a problem living in Queensland during the summer months. I don't like crowds of people and I probably am a germaphobe. However I do enjoy your videos.
Actually people won't scam you for tea. It's pretty much 10 Rs everywhere.
I'm happy for you man 🙂 It's calming to see you at ease with the difficulties of life in India, or that you've found your peace with it. Stay safe and happy and hope you gather more positive experiences here. God bless.
Hey Ben.. Just started watching your videos last night. I really like your honest thoughts about everything. I can see this video was posted in Aug 2019. It’s been 2 years since you posted this. Would you mind doing this video again and tell us how your perspective changed or remains the same in the last 2 years in the same topics you covered in this video. That would be really interesting to see side by side how your perspective has changed.
The problems that u face like scams is faced by Indians who goes to new place but mostly by inexperienced or young people.(Heard south is better than north )Remaining problems like internet , power cuts are disliked by Indians also. Then the water is really good in towns like where you living, compared to city like chennai.

Hey Benjamin. I felt very good watching your video. I am a software engineer and currently in Bangalore for past 10 years. I feel it is one of the best places in India to be. Cost of living might go up a little bit but trust me its worth it. Its super clean and the climate is awesome. Very good internet speeds and very less power cuts…
