Australia seeks to impose taxes on all aspects of people’s lives

Australia Wants to Tax You EVERYWHERE

Australia is known for its beautiful beaches, diverse wildlife, and friendly people. However, recently the country has been making headlines for a different reason – their desire to tax individuals everywhere they go.

The Australian government has proposed a new law that would require all citizens and residents to pay taxes on their worldwide income, regardless of where they live or earn their money. This means that if you are an Australian citizen or resident living and working overseas, you would still be required to pay taxes to the Australian government on your income.

The reasoning behind this proposal is to prevent tax evasion by wealthy individuals who may try to avoid paying taxes by moving their money to offshore accounts or living in countries with lower tax rates. The government believes that taxing individuals on their worldwide income would help level the playing field and ensure that everyone is paying their fair share of taxes.

However, critics of the proposal argue that it would be unfair to tax individuals on income earned outside of Australia, especially if they are already paying taxes in the country where they are living and working. They also believe that it could discourage Australian citizens and residents from living and working overseas, as they would be facing double taxation.

The proposal has sparked a heated debate among politicians, tax experts, and the public. Some believe that it is a necessary step to combat tax evasion and ensure that everyone is contributing to the country’s revenue. Others argue that it is an overreach by the government and could have negative consequences for Australians living and working abroad.

As the debate continues, it remains to be seen whether the proposed law will be passed and implemented. In the meantime, Australian citizens and residents living overseas are left wondering how this potential change could impact their financial situation.

Overall, Australia’s desire to tax individuals everywhere they go is a controversial topic that has stirred up strong emotions on both sides. Whether the proposal will become a reality remains to be seen, but one thing is clear – the debate over tax policy is far from over.

And what percentage would be considered low tax? Hong Kong has a max tax rate of about 18%. And mainland China has a low tax rate for the first 40,000aud you earn (3 to 10%).

I can only see such a policy to tax all Australians overseas as a vote winner.

If this really happens then I expect all social benefits should then be made available to those working overseas. No tax without without benefits!

Currently trying to offload assets so I can get the hell out of here. The Aussie dream is well and truly dead propped up in the corner smothered with flies. I was hoping to make it early next year but that may now be brought forward.

We are already over taxed and under supported, if other countries can do it, why can't we? OK, I'll tell you Political Correctness and Vote Greed!

The digital world has given them control in most parts of the world. Tax is just a tool to justify the mechanism of control.

Australia has the 1 day rule. If you're Aussie and live anywhere fulltime but spend just 1 day in Australia you are a Tax resident you will have to pay on your all your overseas income.
It's complicated. They even look at the status of your spouse defacto or not, your parents, adult children etc.

I am not sure what change is being referred to here, but the rules have always had this effect in Australia. You have always been a tax resident if Australia is your domicile, and you have not acquired another domicile. Could it have been an announcement about better information gathering and enforcement?

The irony that our country's borders are now Obiden Wide Open zones where ONLY those skipping across our borders are removed from taxation all while being provided with Tax payer paid travel , medical care , schooling , hotels , monthly expenses etc etc etc shouldnt be lost on anyone folks. What a 3rd world joke the USSA aka DC & her 52 franchises has become. Should be noted 51st / 52nd only have taxes given from the lower 50 directly into their overseas grubby corrupt hands & by the plane load at that … we must have regular normal red states make the break from the DC franchise system. Enough already.
