Summer is in full swing in Alabama, and what better way to celebrate than with a big cookout? Tomorrow, thousands of Alabamians will come together for the annual Big Summer Cookout, a tradition that brings families and friends together to enjoy good food, music, and company.
From mouthwatering barbecue ribs to refreshing watermelon slices, the Big Summer Cookout promises to be a feast for the senses. Attendees can expect to indulge in traditional Southern dishes like fried chicken, cornbread, and macaroni and cheese, as well as modern twists on classic favorites. And let’s not forget about the desserts – homemade peach cobbler, banana pudding, and ice cream are just a few of the sweet treats that will be on offer.
But the fun doesn’t stop at the food. The Big Summer Cookout will also feature live music performances, games and activities for all ages, and a friendly cook-off competition for the best grilled dishes. It’s sure to be a day full of laughter, good times, and memories that will last a lifetime.
In addition to the festivities, there have been some major shake-ups and flips in the world of recruiting in Alabama. College football programs across the state have been making big moves in an effort to secure top talent for the upcoming season. From surprise commitments to last-minute flips, the recruiting landscape in Alabama is as unpredictable as ever.
One of the most notable flips is that of four-star defensive end prospect, John Smith, who was originally committed to the University of Alabama but recently announced his decision to decommit and commit to rival Auburn University. This move has caused quite a stir among fans and analysts alike, as Smith was considered a key player in Alabama’s recruiting class.
But it’s not just the players who are moving around – coaching staffs are also experiencing their fair share of turnover. Several assistant coaches have been poached by other programs, while some head coaches have been let go after disappointing seasons. It’s a time of change and uncertainty for many college football programs in Alabama, but one thing is for sure – the competition will be fierce come fall.
As Alabamians gear up for the Big Summer Cookout and continue to follow the latest recruiting news, one thing is clear – summer in Alabama is anything but boring. Whether you’re grilling up a storm at the cookout or keeping a close eye on your favorite team’s recruiting efforts, there’s never a dull moment in the Heart of Dixie.

I would not give up on Antonio Coleman. It is best of 5 after all.
I think our success this season will supercharge 26 recruiting!
Auburn had a great day. But, what’s the point in celebrating 2026 guys at this point? Also, close the door with the DL from Saraland. Pass
This dude looks soooo defeated
A lot of these players flip like that for attention
OK, I thought about it and I kind of wanna correct myself a bit! Alabama actually is doing a very nice job with the 2025 in-state class already. When I consider Smith, Rogers, DeBose, and Waldrep, that’s a darn impressive group Already! Roll Tide!
I’m not gonna buy into the Auburn narrative that this staff can’t get exactly who / what Alabama wants in state to meet needs.
We also need to remember Alabama is kicking Auburn butt so bad out of state that Alabama doesn’t necessarily need as many in-state as Auburn does m.
Bottom line: any rational Alabama or Auburn fan that has a clue would not in 1 million years trade Auburn 2025 class for Alabama’s now or in December!
Antonio Coleman will be one of those guys that never will find a home. I look for him to be at least three different schools in four and probably never earns a degree. My opinion doesn’t make it so but it is my opinion and I will stand on it.
It’s the Auburn players they really guilt trip these guys when they come visit. I’ve seen several lives of them begging or trying entice instate guys to come to auburn using every negative tactic they can. RTR
Look bama fans recruiting is nasty and we know this. Bama still has an ace in the hole. If bama plays well during the season up until signing day we should be fine in recruiting. RTR

I drove through Alabama and ttown today coming from gatlinburg tn. it was scattered rain throughout but hopefully it will hold off for the cookout. RTR
If Ryan Williams want him then he will be at Bama!
Appreciate u Luke!
Hope Jimmy get's well soon. I know he does too. As far as Coleman goes, he's probably going to flip again, maybe even out of state. Whatever… yeah I'm old and hate the drama. It's out of my hands, so I'll just roll with it.
The media needs to come up with a better word than commit for recruiting. Because what these players call committing is anything BUT a commitment.
Don't panic, recruiting is a roller coaster
Does alabama need all these guys? Probably not, would it be cool if we got them? Yes. But, we'll win without them. All these kids are trying to get to the draft. This is what they believe is the best path to that
Jimmy has the flu. Get well soon.
Coleman commits to Auburn. Then flips to Alabama. Then flips back to Auburn. Don't let the door hit you on the way out.
Best to Jimmy returning asap and well played by Luke tonight. IMO 2 things are true: Luke is spot on – Bama is obviously in fantastic shape from a recruiting perspective overall and will stay there with the 2025 class. And Bama needs to address in state recruiting effectively moving forward. I believe the coaching staff knows this, will not accept that this is the way it is and will remain in state and will succeed in beating mediocre coach and suspect human Hugh Freeze with home state Alabama players.
Thanks Luke, get well soon JS.
I love how, now when guys get sick, it's that they hv the phony Coof, rather than a cold. Im always amazed at just how brainwashed ppl get!
