Complete Beginner Tutorial: How to List Your First Product on Amazon Seller Central in 2023

If you’ve been thinking about starting your own online business, selling products on Amazon is a great way to get started. Amazon is one of the world’s largest online marketplaces, and with Amazon Seller Central, anyone can become a seller and list their products for sale. In this article, we’ll walk you through the process of listing your first product on Amazon Seller Central in 2023.

Step 1: Create an Amazon Seller Account

The first step to listing your products on Amazon is to create a seller account. You can sign up as an individual seller or a professional seller – the main difference being that professional sellers pay a monthly subscription fee but have access to additional selling tools and features.

To create a seller account, visit sellercentral.amazon.com and click on the “Register Now” button. Follow the prompts to set up your account, including providing your business information, verifying your identity, and choosing a plan.

Step 2: Add Your Product Listing

Once your seller account is set up, you can start adding your product listings. To do this, navigate to the “Inventory” tab on Amazon Seller Central and click on “Add a Product.”

You’ll be prompted to enter details about your product, including the product name, brand, category, description, and images. Be sure to provide accurate and detailed information to help potential customers make informed purchasing decisions.

Step 3: Set Your Pricing and Shipping Options

Next, you’ll need to set your pricing and shipping options for your product. You can choose to fulfill orders yourself (fulfilled by merchant) or use Amazon’s fulfillment services (fulfilled by Amazon). You’ll also need to set the price of your product, taking into account factors like cost of goods, shipping costs, and desired profit margin.

Step 4: Optimize Your Product Listing

To increase visibility and attract more customers to your product listing, it’s important to optimize your listing for search engines. This includes using relevant keywords in your product title and description, adding high-quality images, and providing any additional product details that may be relevant to potential buyers.

Step 5: Launch Your Product

Once your product listing is complete and optimized, it’s time to launch your product on Amazon Seller Central. You can monitor the performance of your listing through your seller dashboard and make adjustments as needed to improve sales and visibility.

Selling products on Amazon can be a profitable venture, and listing your first product on Amazon Seller Central is a relatively straightforward process. By following the steps outlined in this tutorial, you can start selling your products on Amazon and reaching a global audience in 2023. Good luck!

Hi, thanks for the video! This is so helpful. I followed all the steps. My only question is after I have completed the listing, how to I retrieve the barcode for each product. Do I need to get my Trademark/Brandname approved first? I need this to place on my product box for printing. Ok, I watched your video again. I now understand.

Hi there Camron, I have 2 Questions 1. In Brand Approval part submitting a picture is a crucial part for me, does it have to match the product that we are listing or from Fiverr we can have a brand product design just for brand approval? 2. Let's say I'm selling a product that consists of a poly bag containing 6 items where during the listing I have to mention '6'….

Thank you Cameron! I have a quick question, if your brand is not registered. I could not put my brand name. So only option is generic. After I created the list. I did register the brand name and it is pending. So question is, can I change thst generic to my brand name after the brand name is approved y the amazon brand? Please let me know, how can I do this?

Thank you so much for the helpful video! I know you mentioned it was very difficult to go from generic to brand registered. We got brand approval / exception to start but we do plan to eventually get a trademark and file for brand registry. Is it difficult to go from Brand exception to Brand registered.. I just want to make sure we won't have to start over with our listings, reviews, etc. Thanks so much!!!

I don't have a private label, but I have purchased a lot of products from China and I am looking to sell them. Can I use my company name as the brand label for these products? As you mentioned, it may become difficult to use a generic label in the future. What is your opinion on this?

Thank you for the educational video! I am wondering if you have posted any video about dropshipping. I don't have any product to sell. I have an Amazon Seller Central account and I am registered as an individual seller, I am new to this business and I don't have any registered brand name or registered business number. I am located in Canada 🙂 If you have any helpful information please let me know. Thank you!

I’m in the process of doing my brand approval. My manufacturer provided a picture of my product and packaging that I’m afraid will not be approved. I wish there was a way for me to send the picture to you. My product is very small so my logo won’t be on the actual product but on the packaging.

I have sold 20 items on Amazon and have made no profit at all. I am not understanding their reports Amazon keeps taking all my money not sure what's going on. I also sell on Ebay and Marcari and I am doing great in those platforms.

Excellent! If I want to make a 30 piece snack pack using individual wrapped items of snacks, and put my brand name on the box, will this get brand approved even though the items in the box are from a variety of different brands? If approved, does this keep other sellers off my listing since I have my brand name on the box?

Thank you for the great videos. I've been inspired to get into this amazon fba business. I want to sell phone covers (which I purchased wholesale) I've got the gs1 codes, but it's been 10 days now and still cannot list under inventory. Not sure if I'm doing the steps correctly. Keeps saying " The SKU does not match any ASIN and contains invalid value(s) for attributes required for creation of a new ASIN." Any way to give me a hand? Point me in right direction? I really need a mentor to get me set up. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you again.

Hi, thanks for all the valuable information great video!

At the moment we are days before our starting the mass production of our product. To save the 30 cents for labeling, we want to print the FNSKU label directly on our product.

We do not have the product images yet, but we would like to create the listing and get the FNSKU now to send the FNSKU to the supplier to integrate it on the product.

The question is: Is it possible to edit the already created listing as soon as we have the images or does that change the FNSKU code? In general, does any later adjustment of the Listing have impact on the FNSKU code?

    Thanks in advance!

THE SKU DOES NOT MATCH THE ASIN AND CONTAINS INVALID VALUES FOR ATTRIBUTES REQUIRED FOR THE CREATION OF A NEW ASIN.
I paid for the ups in n the GS1 website. I took a picture so I would have the correct number. What is the hell is happening here.

Hi there! I'm uploading my first product, however its not letting me go past Variations. This is the error message I cannot get past -The SKU does not match any ASIN and contains invalid value(s) for attributes required for creation of a new ASIN. I pulled the UPC directly from the site you recommended, copied and paste. Can you please help? Where did I go wrong? Thank YOU!!
