Essential Components of a Virtual Assistant Contract + Free Template Examples

Virtual assistants play an important role in helping businesses manage their workload and stay organized. As a virtual assistant, it is crucial to establish clear expectations with your clients through a written contract. A virtual assistant contract outlines the terms of your working relationship, including the services you will provide, payment terms, confidentiality agreements, and more. In this article, we will discuss what to include in your virtual assistant contract and provide some template samples to help you get started.

What to Include in Your Virtual Assistant Contract:

1. Services Provided: Clearly outline the services you will be providing as a virtual assistant. This may include tasks such as email management, scheduling appointments, social media management, data entry, and more. Be specific about the tasks you are comfortable handling and any tasks that are outside of your scope of work.

2. Payment Terms: Specify your rate and how you will be paid (e.g., hourly, weekly, monthly). Include details about any additional fees, such as rush projects or weekend work. Outline the payment schedule and methods of payment accepted.

3. Confidentiality Agreement: Include a confidentiality clause that outlines your commitment to protecting your client’s sensitive information. This may include proprietary business information, customer details, and any other confidential data.

4. Communication: Specify how you will communicate with your client, whether it be through email, phone calls, or project management software. Include details about your availability and response times.

5. Term of Agreement: Clearly state the duration of the contract, whether it is a one-time project or an ongoing arrangement. Include any provisions for terminating the contract early.

Thank you so so much Erin, i just got an offer to VA and because I haven't done this before, I wasn't sure how to go about it. Your videos are a godsend!

I also had a question if thats alright, my client has given me a contract of their own. In the details, it doesn't include who would pay for related projects or if the check used bounces, etc. So, should I ask them to add it in? Or should I ask if they could sign my own contract as well? How should I go about this? Any advice would be appreciated!

Hi Erin, may I ask when in the hiring process, one should mention/bringout the contract?

Additionally, how do you do this such that it won't cause any awkwardness between you and your client?

Thanks for all the videos! They're extremely helpful.
