Getting Started: A Step-by-Step Guide to Becoming a Seven-Figure Freelance Digital Artist

How to Become a 7 Figure Freelance Digital Artist: How to Get Started

Freelancing has rapidly become one of the most popular career choices, especially in the creative field. With the rise of digital art and technology, freelance digital artists have gained immense opportunities to showcase their talents and earn a lucrative income. If you aspire to become a 7-figure freelance digital artist, this article will guide you on how to get started.

1. Hone Your Skills:
Becoming a successful freelance digital artist requires exceptional skills. Invest time in mastering various art styles, software tools, and techniques. Attend workshops, online courses, and practice regularly to refine your craft. A solid foundation in digital art will set you apart from the competition and make your work stand out.

2. Create a Portfolio:
A portfolio is your best marketing tool. Collect your best artwork and display it in an organized and visually appealing manner. Include a variety of styles, subjects, and techniques to showcase your versatility. Make sure your portfolio is easily accessible online and regularly update it with your latest creations.

3. Market Yourself:
To attract clients and build a successful freelance career, you need to market yourself effectively. Start by creating a professional website that reflects your style and personality. Utilize social media platforms like Instagram, Behance, and Dribbble to share your work and connect with potential clients. Engage with other artists, join relevant communities, and actively participate in discussions to network and gain visibility.

4. Build a Brand:
Differentiate yourself by developing a unique personal brand. A strong brand builds credibility and helps clients recognize your work instantly. Focus on creating a consistent aesthetic across your online presence, including your website, social media profiles, and marketing materials. Develop a signature style that clients can associate with your name, making you a go-to artist for specific projects.

5. Collaborate and Network:
Collaboration is key to expanding your freelance network and gaining exposure. Seek opportunities to collaborate with other artists, designers, and professionals to create joint projects or share resources. Attend industry events, conferences, and art exhibitions to connect with potential clients, industry experts, and like-minded individuals. Building relationships within the art community can open doors to new opportunities and referrals.

6. Diversify Your Income:
While freelance digital art can be highly profitable, it’s essential to diversify your income sources. Explore avenues such as selling prints, licensing your artwork, creating tutorials or online courses, or even offering commissioned pieces to clients. This way, you’ll have multiple revenue streams that can help you reach your 7-figure goal.

7. Continuously Improve and Adapt:
The digital art industry is ever-evolving, with new software, techniques, and trends emerging regularly. Stay updated and continuously invest in learning and improving your skills. Adapt to market demands, experiment with different styles, and embrace new technologies to stay relevant and ahead of the competition. Flexibility and willingness to adapt are crucial factors in achieving long-term success as a freelance digital artist.

In conclusion, achieving 7-figure success as a freelance digital artist requires dedication, perseverance, and strategic planning. Focus on improving your skills, building a strong brand, and marketing yourself effectively. Collaboration, networking, and diversifying your income can further boost your growth. Remember to constantly adapt to market trends and stay updated. With the right approach, you can turn your passion for digital art into a lucrative and fulfilling freelance career.

I'm most likely creating a small discord community of people who are interested in art + business where we can get together and talk about growth, finances, marketing, and connect with other creators + new business owners for collaborations and mentorships. So keep an eye out for that! I'm currently building out the community and making sure everything is nice and organized. Hope you guys enjoyed the video.

Yeah but does it really count when you didn't go to sleep until the sun was up?

I haven't watched the video fully yet. I've personally been earning only around 200 euros per month doing digital 2D commissions to people who want them. I recently took a part time job to earn more money and actually have disposable income. I make so little that it doesn't count for taxes in my country. I need to be earning, like, maybe over 15 thousand euros per year to qualify or whatever? I really got no clue on that, nor I want to find out, really. My country sucks ass with taxes, they take a lot. But I do see I'm not acting like a professional freelance artist, so I shouldn't complain about not getting many jobs. :/ Like no proper portfolio and whatnot.

Spent ages in college. Got an office job which I worked for like 2 years. Been unemployed for almost a year now, but started drawing again. I barely drew in the last decade. Haven't had this much fun in for last decade either. Still suck at drawing though, but I'm definitely improving and working on building an audience.

Well, it was nice to see how great artists can make money. I am not one of said great artists. For all the work I've put in, I'm mediocre at best and likely worse than your ten-year-old cousin.

I tried to get a "real" job a few days ago pushing shopping carts back into the building (I have learned that those fuckers dont want to turn when interlocked. And dont even get me started on the snow.)
It immediately reversed the past 4 years of mental health healing i was working on. Fuck, i hope I can make this one work

With working from home being common place now I dont really see the point in freelancing IF you can get a full time studio position. Getting insurance on your own is much more expensive than having on provided by a company. Working on stuff i think is cool isnt an issue because.. I wouldnt apply somewhere that didnt do something I wanted to do. I would recommend doing freelance on the side, but always having a full time position locked in.

This is the most informative video on professional freelancing I've watched yet. Most just show your options and good websites but you show how to do things outside of websites and freelancing platforms.

This video also tells you how to put yourself in that professional mindset and I really appreciate it.
