A Productive Week in Lisbon as a Digital Nomad 🇵🇹☕️

Lisbon, with its historic charm, delicious food, and vibrant culture, has become an increasingly popular destination for digital nomads seeking a productive yet inspiring work environment. From its beautiful architecture to the thriving tech scene, Lisbon offers a perfect setting to spend a week as a digital nomad.

Monday:
After arriving in Lisbon and settling into my Airbnb, I kick off my week with a stroll along the riverfront. The warm sunshine and cool breeze rejuvenate me, setting the tone for a productive week ahead. I spend the morning exploring the quaint streets of Alfama, sipping coffee at charming cafés, and taking in the stunning views of the city.

In the afternoon, I find a vibrant co-working space near Baixa-Chiado, a lively neighborhood in the heart of Lisbon. The space is equipped with fast Wi-Fi and cozy workstations, perfect for diving into my tasks for the day. The buzzing atmosphere and the opportunity to interact with fellow digital nomads provide me with the necessary inspiration and motivation.

Tuesday:
Today, I plan to explore Belém, a historic district known for its impressive monuments and mouthwatering pastries. I start my day with a visit to the iconic Belém Tower, a UNESCO World Heritage site. The stunning architecture and the panoramic view of the Tagus River captivate me, leaving me in awe of the city’s rich history.

In the afternoon, I settle down in a local café to work on my projects. Lisbon’s café culture is prevalent, and I find myself surrounded by people passionately engaged in their work. The aroma of freshly brewed coffee fuels my creativity, and I manage to tackle my to-do list with ease.

Wednesday:
To break the routine of working from a co-working space, I decide to spend the morning in LX Factory, a vibrant creative hub located in the Alcântara neighborhood. Renovated from an old industrial complex, it now houses trendy shops, art galleries, and quirky cafes. I spend the morning exploring the unique stores and gaining inspiration from the local artists’ work.

In the afternoon, I head to a nearby library with a tranquil atmosphere and ample seating. The peaceful surroundings help me concentrate, and I make significant progress on my projects. As a digital nomad, this flexibility of choosing different workspaces to suit my mood is one of the reasons I love this lifestyle.

Thursday:
Feeling motivated, I dedicate today to an activity that nourishes both my mind and body. Lisbon offers an array of yoga studios, and today, I choose one located in the trendy neighborhood of Bairro Alto. The yoga session helps me find balance and clarity, allowing me to approach my work with renewed energy and focus.

In the afternoon, I attend a networking event for digital nomads at a co-working space. It is an excellent opportunity to exchange ideas, make connections, and learn from fellow professionals in diverse industries. Lisbon’s vibrant digital nomad community helps foster collaboration and build meaningful relationships.

Friday:
As the workweek winds down, I decide to spend the morning exploring Lisbon’s eclectic street art scene. The city is home to numerous talented graffiti artists, and their vibrant murals add an artistic flair to the streets. The colorful walls serve as a backdrop for my morning photoshoot, allowing me to capture the essence of Lisbon’s creativity.

In the afternoon, I head back to a co-working space to wrap up my projects for the week. The friendly faces and the buzzing energy push me to go the extra mile and finish my tasks ahead of schedule. I’m grateful for the productive week and the artistic inspiration that Lisbon has offered.

As the sun sets over Lisbon, I reflect on my time in this beautiful city. Lisbon combines a vibrant work environment, rich history, and artistic charm, making it a perfect destination for digital nomads. This productive week has allowed me to strike a balance between work and exploration, leaving me excited for all the adventures that lie ahead in this digital nomad paradise.

Okay, comments we get it. You’re upset with the super rich (probably not her) and you feel entitled to an apology/acknowledgment of inflation from Elena caused by the super rich (still not her). Right…Good luck to Elena on her solo fight to end digital nomad inflation around the world. Can’t wait for inflation to end once she finally acknowledges it!

That place is "Weekly from: $448". This is almost double the price of what a monthly rent used to be. This is what is driving us away from our capital. Please, PLEASE, reconsider the promotion of such place. This is killing Lisbon. Soon, it will only be an empty shell.

Given your frequent discussions on sustainability (which by the way encompasses not just environmental aspects but also social and economic dimensions), I believe it's important for you to acknowledge and respond to the criticisms regarding the influence of digital nomadism on the housing crisis, not only in Portugal but in other places as well.

I feel disheartened when I see people raising concerns about the inconsistencies between your sustainability rhetoric and the lack of attention to these issues. I greatly appreciate your style and aesthetics, but your silence on this matter suggests that some of your content may indeed stem only from a position of privilege.

Hi Elena! Great that you enjoy Portugal and all its wonderful things it has to offer 🙂 However, please don't disregard in your content that digital nomadism is causing a huge housing crisis in Portugal, in particular, in Lisbon! It's disheartening to see my friends and family telling me about the crazy costs of living in Lisbon nowadays caused by digital nomads, who earn way more than the average Portuguese and can therefore afford to live there with competitive costs… Everyone knows that the problem in itself it's not people 'discovering' Portugal, but how the government is handling it. Im Portuguese and I dont even consider living in Lisbon anymore bc that's just as expensive as living in London for example… But still, much like the neighbourhoods in NYC, Lisbon is becoming aggressively gentrified, and to us, Portuguese folks it is heartbreaking. Digital nomads don't ignore the social context of the place you're landing in. Trust me, it will save everyone a lot of trouble.

This year, I was surprised (more like shocked) at the number of Americans (with no Portuguese roots) that have toured or who are already living in Portugal from what I've learned. Even some American riff-raff are appearing in the most rural areas which is odd to me while prices everywhere are shooting up in general across the country. The cultural shift is what worries me the most. Some folks like this young lady posting the video are fine as one can tell, but there are some wacky characters out there. Well, it's like I say: "All are welcome. Just don't fuck it up."
As an American with direct ties to Portugal, my concern is that it is going to end up that way eventually thanks to globalization and social media which I think does more harm than good.
Any way, it's the same thing to those who leave New York and California to migrate to Texas and Florida for a "better quality of life" or so they think. There are challenges/struggles everywhere so don't bring the ideology of the corrupt politics that you're fleeing from with you to the new place so that it doesn't also become contaminated and then it repeats itself.

Lisboa looks wonderful. I just booked a trip with the option “surprise destination”; I’ll know the destination only two days before leaving and one of the cities that I could get is Lisboa. After I watched this video, I really hope to get it. ❤Anyway loved the video as always. Kisses from Italy ❤

I work remotely but honestly I would never call myself digital nomad and speak and brag just because I work in different countries and its honestly not that amazing how this tiktokers YouTuber make that look like don’t believe everything you see in social media also when you share how cheap the place it is and affordable as American you are also being very selfish and affecting the locals cuz now a bunch of “digital nomads” moves temporarily to this places, rents and prices goes up for the locals it’s better when you keep it low and not brag to much about this on social media I don’t support this type of content
