Labeling, Packaging, and Shipping Your First Product to Amazon FBA: UPC vs FNSKU + Shipping Labels

Selling products through Amazon’s Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA) program can be a game-changer for your business. With FBA, Amazon takes care of storing, packing, shipping, and even customer service for your products. However, before you can send your first product to Amazon’s fulfillment centers, you need to properly label, package, and ship it according to their guidelines. In this article, we will discuss how to label, package, and ship your first product to Amazon FBA, including the differences between UPC and FNSKU labels and how to properly apply shipping labels.

First, let’s talk about labeling your products for Amazon FBA. When you create a product listing on Amazon, you will need to assign a unique identifier to your product. This can be a Universal Product Code (UPC) or an Amazon-specific Fulfillment Network Stock Keeping Unit (FNSKU). If your product has a UPC already, you can use it to create a listing on Amazon. However, if you are creating a new product, you will need to obtain an FNSKU from Amazon to track your inventory and sales within their fulfillment centers.

When it comes to labeling your products, Amazon requires that each unit is labeled with either a UPC or an FNSKU. If you are using UPCs, you will need to place a barcode sticker with the UPC on each unit. If you are using FNSKUs, you can either print the barcode stickers yourself or have Amazon apply them for a fee. It is important to note that Amazon’s requirements are strict, and failure to comply with their labeling guidelines could result in your products being rejected or delayed in the fulfillment process.

Next, let’s discuss packaging your products for Amazon FBA. When sending products to Amazon’s fulfillment centers, it is important to follow their packaging guidelines to ensure that your products arrive safely and are stored efficiently. Amazon requires that products be packaged securely to prevent damage during shipping and handling. This includes using proper packaging materials such as bubble wrap, packing peanuts, or cardboard boxes to protect your products.

In addition to proper packaging, you will also need to apply shipping labels to your products before sending them to Amazon. Amazon provides shipping labels that include important information such as the origin of the shipment, the destination fulfillment center, and the tracking barcode. It is crucial to apply these shipping labels correctly to avoid any delays or issues with your shipment.

In conclusion, labeling, packaging, and shipping your first product to Amazon FBA requires attention to detail and adherence to their guidelines. Whether you are using UPC or FNSKU labels, it is essential to ensure that each unit is properly labeled and packaged before sending it to Amazon’s fulfillment centers. By following these steps, you can set yourself up for success and start selling your products on Amazon with confidence.

Should I have my UPC embedded into the packaging and have the FNSKU stickered onto the boxes or just have the FNSKU embedded into the packaging or placed on the boxes?

Hi, I sent bottles of liquid soap and I bubble wrapped them then put in a poly bag? that would not be an issue, right? because with shrink wrap i dont think it would be safe.

We sell medium size products which have their own box (one product, one box) and which we want to place directly on pallet, without placing them in an additional box.
Which one of these two options is the best?
-Place both box label and FNSKU on the product
-Place only the FNSKU on the product

    Thanks!

Great video! Do you need to put the country of origin such as “made in China” on each product you send to Amazon FBA warehouse?
