Another cool little side thing to do if you are in Stockholm is to visit uppsala or rather Gamla uppsala, which was one of the most important places during the Viking era. Also the region of mälaren ( Stockholms surrounding areas) are the places with the most runestones in the world. I think Sweden has around 98% of all runestones ever found, and a vast majority is found around lake Mälaren.

Good to see Stockholm during the nice summer green season!
I also like that you learned to dress well and not like me that argues that "it can't be that bad" and underestimates the weather and temperatures!

"See you on an island." Yeah… that narrows it down, "a lot". 😀
There are literally thousand of islands in the Stockholm area.
The "old town", Gamla Stan, is on an island all by its own. 😉

West of the city there is the Mälaröarna, with Drottningholm castle (were the king sleeps…)

East is the archipelago, with most of the thousands of islands I mentioned.

In the summer time, it is a suggestion to take one of the "Finland ferries" which sails through the archipelago.
Spending an hour or so out on deck just watching the scenery slowly pass by in the sun, is well worth the time
and cost. Add decent food, beer, drinks, music and dancing (the famous finnish tango for example), and it is
an 48 hour "cruising" experience. (Of course, when swedes, finns and alcohol mix, it can occationally turn sour.
    Not too often though.)
If you like Stockholm, you will also like Helsinki. It is not the same, just enough similar, but with its own charm.
    And more saunas…
