My Year as a Digital Nomad (2017)
In 2017, I made the decision to become a digital nomad and travel the world while earning a living remotely. It was a big leap of faith, but it turned out to be one of the most transformative and rewarding experiences of my life. As I reflect on my year as a digital nomad, I can’t help but feel grateful for the freedom and flexibility that this lifestyle has given me.
One of the most exciting aspects of being a digital nomad is the ability to work from anywhere in the world. I started my journey in Southeast Asia, spending time in Thailand, Vietnam, and Indonesia. I was able to work from beachside cafes, jungle bungalows, and bustling city centers, all while staying connected to my clients and colleagues back home. It was an incredible feeling to be able to explore new cultures and landscapes while continuing to build my career.
One of the biggest challenges I faced as a digital nomad was finding a work-life balance. It’s easy to get caught up in the excitement of travel and let work take a backseat, but I quickly learned the importance of setting boundaries and prioritizing my time. I established a routine that allowed me to work during the week and explore my surroundings on the weekends, which helped me stay productive and maintain a healthy work-life balance.
Another highlight of my year as a digital nomad was the connections I made with other like-minded individuals. I joined digital nomad communities in several cities, where I met people from all walks of life who were also living and working on the road. It was inspiring to hear their stories and learn from their experiences, and I formed friendships that will last a lifetime.
Of course, there were also some challenges along the way. From navigating new time zones to dealing with unreliable internet connections, there were moments when the digital nomad lifestyle tested my patience and resilience. However, these challenges only made me more adaptable and resourceful, and I learned to embrace the unpredictability that comes with traveling and working remotely.
As 2017 came to a close, I found myself reflecting on the incredible experiences I had as a digital nomad. From watching the sunrise over Angkor Wat to hiking through the rice terraces of Bali, I was constantly in awe of the beauty and diversity of the world. I also felt a deep sense of gratitude for the opportunities that being a digital nomad had given me.
Overall, my year as a digital nomad was a transformative and eye-opening experience. It allowed me to see the world through a new lens and gain a deeper appreciation for the interconnectedness of our global community. While there were certainly challenges along the way, the freedom and flexibility that comes with being a digital nomad made it all worth it. I am grateful for the lessons I learned and the memories I made, and I look forward to continuing my journey as a digital nomad in the years to come.

Wow old video but thanks. I'm trying as hard as possible to start my journey but stupid things keep pushing me back! Trying to get a few clients freight brokering whilst trying to also get a remote job in customer service or inbound sales but no freaking luck. Only those two things can launch my journey and i won't stop until I'm ready to go! Nice video.
