Life as a Virtual Assistant | My First 3 Months | How much did I earn? Where did I get clients?
Becoming a virtual assistant has become an increasingly popular career choice in recent years, offering individuals the flexibility to work from the comfort of their own homes while still earning a decent income. As someone who recently embarked on this journey, I wanted to share my experience in the first three months, including how much I earned and where I found clients.
When I first decided to become a virtual assistant, I had some expectations about the job. I knew there would be a learning curve, as with any new profession, but I was also excited about the prospect of being my own boss and choosing the projects that interested me the most. These initial months were crucial for me to establish my online presence, build my skills, and find clients who needed my services.
Building an online presence is essential for any virtual assistant, as it helps potential clients find and evaluate your skills. I created a professional website, including a portfolio to showcase my previous work and skills. I also created social media accounts on platforms such as LinkedIn and Facebook, where I shared helpful tips and engaged with professionals in my desired niche.
In terms of skill-building, I took advantage of various online resources and courses to enhance my existing abilities and learn new ones. These included time management, project management, communication skills, and specific software or tools commonly used in the virtual assistant world. This continuous learning and improvement helped me stay competitive and offer a variety of services to potential clients.
Finding clients as a virtual assistant can be challenging at first, but with persistence and a proactive approach, it is definitely achievable. In my case, I initially reached out to my extended network, including friends, family, and business acquaintances, to let them know about my new venture. Word-of-mouth referrals played a significant role in securing some of my initial clients.
Additionally, I explored various freelance platforms such as Upwork, Freelancer, and Fiverr, where I could find potential clients looking for virtual assistants. These platforms offer a wide range of projects, from administrative tasks to social media management, providing ample opportunities to showcase my skills and secure long-term clients.
Now, let’s address the big question – how much did I earn in my first three months as a virtual assistant? Well, it varies from person to person, depending on the services offered, the number of clients, and the hours put in. In my case, I managed to earn a steady income that was comparable to or even higher than what I made in a traditional office job. It is important to note that this income took time to build up, as I gradually acquired more clients and increased my rates.
To summarize, life as a virtual assistant has been an exciting journey so far. The first three months were crucial for building my online presence, developing new skills, and finding clients. It took dedication, continuous learning, and a proactive approach to secure clients, whether through referrals or freelance platforms. In terms of earnings, I was pleasantly surprised to find that my income as a virtual assistant was comparable to or even higher than my previous office jobs. If you are considering becoming a virtual assistant, be prepared to invest time and effort into building your online presence, enhancing your skills, and actively seeking clients – the rewards may well exceed your expectations.

Now this was a honest video! ❤
Thank you so much for highlight these caveats. SOOOO many VAs are on bragging about how much money they make while half naked wading through water in a beach somewhere (and what does showing your body off have to do with advertising your VA business?). But they never mention these things and sure, everyone knows you have to pay taxes but you suggested how YOU handle that whereas I haven't heard too many others mention it. Thank you for the transparency. I REALLY appreciate it.
223 a month is not ideal unless you can work other jobs while doing that
great video, I actually learned more from you then a course I paid for on udemy. Just a suggestion if you want to make some extra cash each month you can teach English, I make about $800ish a month… good luck to you 🙂
What are the Facebook groups you joined where you found your jobs?
I appreciate all the resources you give. Your transparency is so appreciated and helpful. It would be great to know your experience with that now as well as how mom-ing is going!

My god, you must have had thousands of facebook followers, because that is a minimum to even get one single serious response to that kind of post..
What are the names of those facebook groups?
can you use the paypal fees as a tax write-off?
Thanks You so much for all this information. I wanna work as a VA but You Say something important about taxes.
But what did you get after taxes?
This video was very very good, very insightful and brutally honest!! I love the fact that this video is concise and to the point! Good luck on your journey girlfriend!
So you didn't pay for any VA program? Like Savvysystem or VA in 90 days?
When it comes to agencies, do they provide access to any of the websites that VA’s commonly use? If the pay is low, but you get access to many of the “tools” it might be beneficial to start there, gain some experience, and make connections that can get you into the networking end of the business.
Hi, Can you recommend me whenever you get those VA jobs that you don’t want ? That’ll really go a long way for me. I look forward to networking.
Can you please make a video sharing your Virtual Assistant Portfolio and how to create one step by step.
Great summary 🙂
