I Tried Amazon FBA For 6 Months – The Honest Results
Starting an online business can be an exciting venture, especially when you have a platform as powerful as Amazon at your disposal. Amazon FBA (Fulfillment by Amazon) is a program that allows you to sell products on their platform while they handle the storage, fulfillment, and customer service.
Intrigued by the potential of Amazon FBA, I decided to give it a shot and see if it lived up to its reputation. For six months, I dedicated my time and resources to building a successful Amazon FBA business. Here are the honest results of my experience.
Getting Started
The initial setup process was relatively straightforward. I researched products that had a high demand and low competition, aiming for a niche market to increase my chances of success. After selecting a product, I sourced it from a reliable supplier and sent it to Amazon’s fulfillment centers.
The Good
One of the biggest advantages of Amazon FBA is its reach. With millions of active users, Amazon provides an enormous customer base ready to purchase products. This allowed me to generate sales quickly, especially during peak shopping seasons like Black Friday and Christmas.
Additionally, the logistics were a significant benefit. Amazon took care of storing and shipping my products, allowing me to focus on other aspects of my business. They also provided excellent customer service, which further enhanced the shopping experience for my customers.
The Challenges
While Amazon FBA offers numerous advantages, it comes with its fair share of challenges. The competition is fierce, with an ever-increasing number of sellers joining the platform. This made it essential to constantly monitor and adjust my pricing and marketing strategies to stay competitive.
Furthermore, the fees associated with Amazon FBA can add up quickly. From storage fees to fulfillment fees, they can eat into your profit margins, especially if your product isn’t priced competitively.
Another challenge I faced was product differentiation. It was crucial to provide unique value to customers to stand out from the competition. This required investing in quality packaging, branding, and marketing to create a memorable customer experience.
The Bottom Line
After six months of dedicated effort, I can say that Amazon FBA is a viable option for individuals looking to start an online business. It provides an extensive customer base and takes care of many logistical challenges that new sellers often face.
However, success on Amazon FBA requires continuous effort and adaptability. Keeping up with the competition and optimizing your strategies is crucial for long-term success. Also, it’s important to carefully manage your finances and ensure your profit margins can withstand the various fees associated with the program.
Overall, my experience with Amazon FBA was positive. While it had its challenges, with the right mindset and strategic approach, it can be a profitable endeavor. However, it’s always important to do thorough research and understand the market dynamics before jumping into any business venture.
If you’re considering Amazon FBA, remember that it’s not a get-rich-quick scheme, but rather a long-term commitment that requires dedication and perseverance. If you’re willing to put in the work, Amazon FBA can provide a platform for success in the online business world.

I watched many of your video and in process of listing one item. I placed order from china already and received ‘approval required-baby product’ from Amazon.
And today, i found same exact item i am in the process on Anazon with private label. Can i still sell this item? Please help!!
I saw your channel on PNUK's showcase of channels affected by invalid traffic… that's nuts. Are you making a video on that ? How are you dealing with it ?
Hi, travis, thanks for the good teaching, will the Amazon fba warehouse put barcodes on my first product when they receive it?
Hi Travis! Noticed your amazing work in e-commerce. Ever considered leveraging your influence for affiliate partnerships?
Do you guys trust Jeromy? Curios to know
Hi, Travis, thank you for your great teaching, is it possible for me to do Amazon fba, with just my cellphone?
Glad I only lost 200$ to try Amazon FBA. What they fail is to explain Amazon FBA hidden fees…
Note, if interested in potentially patenting your product, while I (Jeremy here) learned the extensive nuances on writing and successfully prosecuting a patent for approval/grant, it can not only takes years to learn these nuances, but also the meticulous manner of writing a patent to be potentially legally interpreted one day can be very strenuous. I would strongly suggest using a patent attorney for this.
However, if looking to get a foot in the door, and you believe there is some merit to patentability for your product/invention, you can file what is known as a Provisional Patent Application. This is substantially cheaper, giving you one, additional year to file (have an attorney file) the Nonprovisional (Final) Application.
Although cumbersome, this entire process has been beneficial to us, as we have successfully prosecuted and taken down knock-offs (causing them to loose substantial amounts in cash/inventory from them trying to do what they did). You simply need to weigh out the cost/benefits/feasibility. Many products are not patentable and/or do not need a patent to be successful, but they can help.
This is not legal advice, and would suggest talking with a patent attorney for expert advice.***
Hope this helps!
This is private label lol great way to lose money.
I'd never do such a thing.
Waste of time money and effort.
You'd make more just reselling things that are already booming
Why are u talking about his first 6 months only when this guy launched the product almost 2 years ago
What a stupid product lol
Travis can you please bless me it’s hard being broke $richrece
So you kind of steam rolled over the kickstarting thing.. people gave $11,000, I'm assuming they're expecting a product. How much profit came from the kickstarter? The first month selling on Amazon, where did the funding money come from? Was that from the kickstarter? If so, when did the people on kickstarter get their product?
can i start amazon fba as an 18 year old college student using a college credit card like capital one savor for students or the discover it student card ?
How did you find the influencers? How much did you pay for them?
Hey Travis, I am in the step of getting a label made. I have purchased the GTIN but I only have the number, not the actually barcode. How do I get the actual barcode? ( I purchased off of GS1)
what is the best way to get in contact with influencers to help promote a product?
That's a GREAT idea! I hate having loose lids and containers with no "mates" in the cabinets. Thx for sharing, Travis!
