Reasons Why I Chose to Move to BGC Manila as a Digital Nomad in 2023 – Is Life in the Philippines Still Worth It?

“Why I Moved to BGC Manila From the States – Digital Nomad Life in the Philippines 2023 Still Worth It!”

As a digital nomad, the world is truly your oyster. With the freedom to work from anywhere with an internet connection, the possibilities are endless. After spending several years living and working in the United States, I made the bold decision to uproot my life and move to Bonifacio Global City (BGC) in Manila, Philippines. And let me tell you, it was one of the best decisions I have ever made.

BGC, located in the heart of Manila, is a bustling metropolis filled with skyscrapers, shopping centers, restaurants, and a vibrant nightlife. But what drew me to this urban hub was its burgeoning tech scene and its reputation as a haven for digital nomads like myself. The city’s modern amenities, reliable internet connection, and coworking spaces made it the perfect destination for someone looking to balance work and play.

But beyond the practicalities, what truly won me over was the warm hospitality of the Filipino people. From the moment I arrived, I was welcomed with open arms and made to feel like I had found a second home. The culture in the Philippines is rich and diverse, and I have loved immersing myself in everything from local cuisine to traditional festivals.

Living in BGC has also given me the opportunity to explore the beauty of the Philippines. From pristine beaches to lush rainforests, this country is a nature lover’s paradise. I have spent weekends island-hopping, hiking through mountains, and diving in crystal-clear waters. The Philippines truly is a hidden gem waiting to be discovered.

Of course, living abroad comes with its challenges, and the transition hasn’t been without its bumps in the road. Adapting to a new culture and way of life can be daunting, but the rewards far outweigh the challenges. And as a digital nomad, I have found that the flexibility and independence of my lifestyle have allowed me to thrive in this new environment.

As we navigate the ever-evolving landscape of remote work, the question of whether the digital nomad life in the Philippines is still worth it in 2023 is a resounding yes. The opportunities for growth, adventure, and connection are endless, and I am grateful every day for the chance to experience it all.

So if you’re a digital nomad considering a move to the Philippines, I say go for it. Embrace the unknown, open yourself up to new experiences, and let the beauty of this country sweep you off your feet. Trust me, you won’t regret it.

Congratulations on finding a way to live well and be happy. I spent last winter (after retiring in July) in the suburbs near CEBU. Now I already had a nearly 4 year distance relationship with a young man, so he handled everything, setting up the house I was renting in advance, and making sure that everything was in order. He is from a good family and his entire family are wonderful. I love the Philippines and the Pinoy/Pinay. Having lived in NYC myself (upstate now) and having spent my career as a professional – though in a very different field I suspect, I completely agree with your take on corporations. Now I am back in the US, and we are waiting for his fiancé' visa to come through. He wants to come here so we can actually be married and, while he will have a Philippines degree, he will not be able to use it effectively here, so he is talking about doing nursing here, which I fully support if that is what he wants. I think you are a lucky man from what I see in the video, and I certainly am as well. Have a great day, stay happy and both of you enjoy.
