As the storm season approaches, it is crucial to make sure you and your loved ones are prepared for any potential severe weather events. From hurricanes to tornadoes, it is important to have a plan in place to keep yourself safe and secure during a storm. Here are some tips for preparing for the storm:
1. Create an emergency kit: Put together a kit with essential supplies such as water, non-perishable food, flashlights, batteries, a first aid kit, and any necessary medications. Keep the kit in a designated place that is easily accessible in case of an emergency.
2. Secure your home: Trim any dead tree branches and secure outdoor furniture and other loose items to prevent them from becoming projectiles in high winds. Also, make sure your windows and doors are properly secured to protect against potential damage.
3. Stay informed: Keep up to date with the latest weather forecasts and advisories. Listen to local news and follow official social media channels for updates on the storm’s progress and any evacuation notices.
4. Have a communication plan: Make sure everyone in your household knows how to contact each other in case of an emergency. Determine a meeting place in case you are separated and unable to return home.
5. Evacuate if necessary: If local authorities issue an evacuation order, follow their instructions and leave the area as quickly as possible. Be sure to know your evacuation route and have a plan in place for where you will go.
In addition to preparing for the storm, it’s also important to stay informed about any changes to local recycling and garbage collection schedules as a result of severe weather. Bad weather can affect the operations of waste management services, leading to delays or cancellations of pick-ups.
In the event of a storm, it is possible that your scrap metal recycling collection may be postponed. It’s important to stay in touch with your local scrap yard to find out about any schedule changes or closures. You may need to make alternate arrangements for storing your scrap metal until it can be safely collected.
It’s always a good idea to have a backup plan for your scrap metal recycling needs during storm season. Identify alternative collection sites or consider arranging for a private pickup if necessary. By staying informed and prepared, you can ensure that your recycling efforts continue even in the midst of severe weather.

I am out in the country southeast of you about 4 hours. We loose electricity quite often and stay prepared. The Ozark Trails led lantern that uses the D cell batteries are great. I have three of them and can almost light up the whole house pretty good. And they last for nights and nights. Very easy on batteries. I have one in the cellar too.
Thankful that you know how to deal with the storms. Stay safe my friend and I will patiently wait for you on the next video. God be with you and your family as y'all go through the storm and cold weather.
Be safe in the storm I'm in indiana so I'm not worried about tornadoes too much now, but the high winds with everything ice and snow covered somethings gotta give and it's usually tree branches and powerlines unfortunately.
