The era of Selling DVD’s on Amazon FBA has come to an end

The days of selling DVD’s on Amazon FBA are officially over. For years, sellers have been able to make a tidy profit by purchasing used DVD’s at thrift stores, yard sales, and other sources, and then reselling them on Amazon’s FBA platform. However, as of June 1, 2021, Amazon has implemented new restrictions that effectively put an end to this once-lucrative business model.

The new restrictions state that DVD products listed in the Movies & TV category will require approval from Amazon before they can be sold on the platform. This means that sellers will no longer be able to simply list their DVD’s for sale and ship them off to Amazon’s warehouses for fulfillment. Instead, they must go through a rigorous approval process, which includes providing proof of authenticity and meeting certain criteria set by Amazon.

This move by Amazon has left many DVD sellers feeling frustrated and disappointed. Selling DVD’s on Amazon FBA was once a popular and profitable business model for many sellers, as DVD’s are lightweight and easy to source. With the new restrictions in place, sellers will have to find new ways to make money on the platform.

One option for sellers is to switch to selling other types of products that are not covered by the new restrictions. This could include electronics, toys, clothing, or any number of other items that are in high demand. While this may require a shift in strategy and sourcing practices, it is certainly possible for sellers to adapt and continue making money on Amazon FBA.

Another option for DVD sellers is to explore other selling platforms, such as eBay or Etsy. While these platforms may not have the same reach or customer base as Amazon, they can still be profitable for sellers who are willing to put in the time and effort to build their businesses.

Overall, the end of selling DVD’s on Amazon FBA is a blow to many sellers who relied on this business model for their income. However, with some creativity and flexibility, it is still possible for sellers to find success on Amazon and other platforms. The key is to adapt to the changing landscape of e-commerce and find new opportunities to make money online.

Would you recommend selling used dvds on FBA or just new ones? Noticed that some used ones can make good profit.

With so many different streaming services now it's a pain trying to find particular movies if they're even available, I've been building a dvd collection as I'm out sourcing. Cds and vinyl are still big with collectors and sound better than streams, even a lot of cassettes have some good value

You can play DVDs as many times as you can and pay for a movie once. Meanwhile with streaming, its subscription based and movies can be removed.
