The Journey to eBay Reselling: How We Started and What Brought Us Here

Origin Story for our eBay Reselling Career: How Did We Get Here, What Led Us To eBay Reselling

For many people, the world of eBay reselling is a mystery. It seems like a dream job – making money from the comfort of your home, selling items that you love and believe in. But how did we get here? What led us to pursue a career in eBay reselling?

For us, the journey began with a love for thrift stores and garage sales. We found joy in hunting for unique items and treasures, and we soon realized that we could turn this passion into a profitable business. As we grew our collection of one-of-a-kind finds, we began to see the potential in selling these items to others who shared our interests.

eBay provided the perfect platform for us to share our curated collection with a wider audience. The online marketplace allowed us to reach customers from all corners of the globe, and we quickly saw success in selling our unique items.

As our eBay business grew, we realized the potential for a full-time career in reselling. We dedicated more time and resources to sourcing and listing items, and soon we were able to turn our eBay reselling hobby into a sustainable business.

What led us to eBay reselling was not just a love for finding unique items, but also a desire for flexibility and independence in our careers. eBay reselling allowed us to work from anywhere, on our own schedule, and to be our own bosses. This freedom was a huge motivator for us to pursue reselling as a full-time career.

In conclusion, our eBay reselling career was born out of our love for unique finds, the desire for flexibility and independence, and the commitment to sustainability. It has been a journey of passion, hard work, and dedication, but we are grateful for the opportunities that eBay reselling has provided us. We are excited to continue growing our business and sharing our love for unique items with the world.

Robert did software development for about 20 years before eBay. He likes not having to go to meetings anymore.

New subscriber. Enjoying your story! Question: I noticed you had a sale for $3.99. I'm trying to figure out how low I should go and what's not worth the time to list. Do y'all have a guideline for your own listing choices?

Thanks for sharing your story, definitely enjoyed it, as a fellow South Dakota person it is great to see that reselling can work here, I am coming up on a year on Ebay the 10th of this month, hoping to make it a more profitable full time thing myself here. Always enjoy your content.

Sales tax in one state can suck. I have had to deal with coworkers who would change invoices and payments after the fact and after taxes were paid for the month. I would go much grayer some days. I would hate to do the whole country. I admire that you have had so many businesses for a good chunk of my life I just did the practical route and that never got me anywhere. eBay has helped me quit a job and it’s helping me look for one that won’t make me jump out in front of a car on a daily basis. I got to eBay during the Great Recession when I was unemployed but I had no idea what I was doing then.

Corey, I hear you about liking to work alone (or with family) and that youtube helps provide some community sense. One of my coffee cups says it all: It's Too Peopley Out There. Selling on eBay allows some of us to isolate ourselves from unwanted in person social interaction.

"and how's that going for you?" had me laughing enough to spit coffee. But we've all been there and had our wives to keep us grounded.

Appreciate the Video Content today. It's interesting to hear about the backgrounds and path that led to your current business. Hearing the backstory, more about the decision process and other aspects of your situation is a nice augment to the usual videos. My wife and I also came to Reselling in a similar manner, after I retired with a pension in 1997. She also had an accounting background, which was useful as we started working for ourselves. Looking forward to the next part of the story.

Increased government regulation is often the killer of small business. I closed a business a few years back when the county I lived in at the time introduced a book of new regulations and requirements for small businesses. Prior to that they had been content to just tax us, but once The Book was published the amount of compliance was going to take too much time, killing the profit made from the work.

You spoke the truth about the eBay fees! You would probably pay that much for your own website and inventory software plus all the other costs that are associated with running a business like this. Good video guys!

On Sales Tax. How does Ebay and alike report sales tax WHEN they charge tax with the buyer’s shipping cost and the seller pays less on the said shipping (Less reportable tax liability).?

Severely disappointed the chat didn't wait for me to catch up. It's like I don't even exist. Guess I'll go cry myself to sleep.
