How to Crush it as a Small eBay Reseller in 2023! ($50/hr, 20 hours, $1k Profit)
eBay has long been a popular platform for people looking to buy and sell a wide range of products. The appeal of starting a small reselling business on eBay lies in its accessibility, global reach, and potential for lucrative profits. If you’re interested in becoming a successful eBay reseller in 2023, these tips will help you crush it and achieve a profit of $1,000 working just 20 hours a week at an impressive $50 per hour rate.
1. Know your market:
To become a successful eBay reseller, it’s vital to understand the market you’re selling in. Research popular products, trending items, and customer demands. Keep yourself updated on the latest trends and news within various industries, allowing you to capitalize on the items that are likely to sell well and fetch higher prices.
2. Source products strategically:
Finding the right products to resell is key to boosting your profits. Consider sourcing products from various channels such as garage sales, thrift stores, online auctions, and wholesale marketplaces. Look for unique or niche items that have a good resale value. Garage sales are often a goldmine for hidden gems that can be sold for a significant profit.
3. Optimize your listings:
The success of your reselling business on eBay largely depends on creating appealing and informative listings. Write clear and concise product descriptions. Include high-quality images from multiple angles and don’t forget to highlight any unique features or selling points. Remember, quality content and visuals encourage customers to make purchases.
4. Price competitively:
While maximizing profit is the ultimate goal, it’s essential to stay competitive with your pricing. Research similar listings and adjust your prices accordingly. Offering competitive prices attracts buyers and increases the chances of selling your items quickly.
5. Provide excellent customer service:
Keep your customers satisfied by offering exceptional customer service. Respond promptly to inquiries, communicate clearly, and handle any issues or complaints efficiently. Positive feedback and happy customers lead to increased sales and repeat business.
6. Leverage social media:
In addition to eBay, utilize social media platforms to reach a wider audience and generate more sales. Create accounts specific to your reselling business and promote your listings through posts, stories, and engaging content. Utilize relevant hashtags and engage with potential customers to expand your reach beyond eBay’s platform.
7. Seek out opportunities for growth:
As your reselling business flourishes, look for ways to expand your operation. Consider developing a brand, establishing your own e-commerce website, or exploring other marketplaces like Amazon or Etsy. Expanding can help you reach a broader customer base and potentially increase your profits.
Remember, success as an eBay reseller requires dedication, hard work, and the ability to adapt to changing market trends. Stay current and proactive in your strategies, and you’ll be well on your way to crushing it as a small eBay reseller in 2023. With a $50 per hour rate and just 20 hours a week, achieving a $1,000 profit is within reach. Good luck!

Hi so I realized that you have almost all your inventory in boxes and not in bins (i get the bins) how do you organize your inventory within those boxes ? Knowing your system may just save me more time!
Love your tips very informative information as always, thanks for sharing you are appreciated!
Came back to this video. I focus on shoes only from the goodwill bins. My average cost per sneaker is $2-$3
Average sell profit is 35-45 and I sell about 3-5 shoes a day.
I do this part time and I have a full time job.
My next goal is to do this full time 🙂
I started my business as a hobby and I want to make it a business to put it like this I want to take my business to the next level
A big expense is the money to drive to all of these stores and purchase inventory. Also thrift stores such as goodwill, salvation army etc. are not producing the inventory they did years ago.
Are you selling on eBay again? I was new to eBay and made no sales and listed only 10 items and was expanding it, when they cancelled my account with no explanation or option to appeal. For being both a seller and buyer on eBay. What do you make of that?
I love the idea of getting to the 30+ level. There's nothing more fun than self-determination.
Selling things for fun..lol
Thats if Ebay dont "Crush" your account..lol
What are your thoughts on finding items on eBay to resell on eBay?
Okay so I got a question. I started an LLC and recently began to sell on eBay. I am required to collect sales tax in my state. I see eBay doing it every time when an item is purchased. So does the tax eBay collects considered a fee when reporting my sales in my accounting book?
I dont make no where near 50 dollars a day profit
Im at 0-5 a day, i was really kicking it then ebay went dead for 2 days. Ive been reselling off and on for years.
Hello Chris, You mentioned not to do sell similar are you just referring to end and sell similar or you advising to start all listings from scratch? Please clarify. Thank you in advance
so is he saying 100 listing a week solds 30 a week that's sell through rate of 30% isn't that a very high sell through rate?
One of the problems for me is that i just can't source a good amount of volume for a decent price. I live in the UK and our charity shops (thrifts) are really quite expensive for clothing and most items in general. I've sold about 50 items in 2 months since I started. I'm doing OK but I really need to find a better way to source for better prices.
Ebay is for scammers by scammers
So am I right in thinking when you say list 5 items a day that is 25 a week as you only work 5 days a week? Does value of listings come into it? Like if I list 5 $100 dollar items or 5 CD’s do you count it all the same?
Right now me and my wife are at the 10-30 items a day. Thank you so much for all your insight!!!
do you offer 1 on 1 training?
OH, HOW CUTE… NOW IM A INDEPENDENT CONTRACTOR. I OWN A BUSINESS, THE BUSINESS OF DIGGING IN DUMPSTERS … LOL GOING TO THRIFT STORES. I LOVE POLITICIANS. THESE CROOKS FLY AROUND IN A JET, EATAT FANCY EATERIES, AND I EAT CHEAP TOCOS TO SAVE MONEY. A FEW WEEKS AGO I BREAK DOWN ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, WITH A LOAD OF CRAP IN MY TRUCK, I GRABBED IT FROM A APT MOVE-OUT. PARKED THE LOADED TRUCK BY A GAS STATION, CAME BACK LATER AND THE HOMELESS THIEVES LEFT ONLY EMPTY BOXES BEHIND.
MY QUESTION IS, DO I GET A WRITE-OFF FOR THE LOSS? BY THE WAY, I DIDN'T GET ANY RECEIPTS. I'LL HAVE TO REM TO DO THAT. SO MUCH FOR MY INDEPENDENT CONTRACTOR SKILLS.
Some guy on here says he's trying to do 11 per day. LOL, I'm going to school, but do this to pay room rent and college fees, books, internet, etc. But teach me how to do this for a living? Are you NUTS? My advice after doing this for less than a yr. is to get an education. All I see at these places are scrappers, like myself trying to get in the front of the line for that hidden treasure. I'm gonna be a broadcaster, working at a radio station hopefully. But do this for the rest of my life? NEVER. Now the Gov wants a tax on one of those throw-away sports tee shirts I was lucky to be given. That figures! Joe Biden must have run out of diapers, He's got a chapped a$$ and takes it out on the little guy. Isn't America GREAT?
Hi Christopher 30+ Full Timer (20 years). Followed you for years on various places and I l❤️ve you!
Hey Chris, I would like to see a plan to reset a small eBay (mostly) clothing reseller business. I’ve heard you say to just list new stuff instead of redoing your older stuff. I have such a huge stockpile of that stuff that could be sold I don’t know which route to go. In The last year I’ve been able to get a distributor for brand-name goods that I sell an extremely low cost and that’s mainly what I list now. Should I chuck my previous inventory Or try to redo some of it?
Thanks. Your videos are always full of useful key information.
I think the quality of the items sourced should be emphasized a bit more. You don't want to accumulate a bunch of stuff that does not sell. It takes up your space and you may accumulate a lot of insertion fees, but what is even worse is this can hurt your desire to continue, or at least slows you down.
I recommend:
1- source vintage or well-known brands. No common items.
2- Look at the items sell-through rate, if it sells at 45% or higher is good, anything less, will take considerably longer to sell. (This means if there are 50 selling, but less than 20 have sold in the last 90 days, the item may take a considerable amount of time to sell).
3-proper pricing. Things will sell a lot faster if you price them at their market value, or just slightly above, if it's in great shape. You have to take into account if it is new, used, condition, its completeness and if it is a collectable, do you have the original packaging, even better if it has never been opened. All this needs to be taken carefully into account so that you price the item properly.
4- properly presented. Make sure that you picture the item fully and highlight any points and show any flaws. Brand marks, face. Details should be clearly visible.
5-promote the item/s especially if there is lots of competition
6-Work on your store daily, this helps you in the algorithm.
7-no matter what do at least one listing a day. 1 times 100 is 100, 0 times 100 is 0.
Edit: I wanted to add that moving and estate sales are also great for sourcing.
love the pants thing
Gawd I’d be happy to just net $500-$1k a month to help my husband out, since I’m a stay at home mom to a toddler and 3mo old baby
"500 comments and i'll put on these pants." Hahaha If you want more comments just put them on right now! Square sunglasses too please! Disco Crisco!
So I have a lot of low value items I’m selling at about $2 profit a piece cost is $.5 each but it takes only 3mins to list should I be setting a minimum dollar amount for profit?
I never had a limit on eBay? My problem is I'm stuck on the 0-5 items. Been in that range for like 5 months.
1st srage
I really love your biz model! Basically it’s perfect and prove that works.. but I’ve 2 years following trying to find another niche different that clothes
Great stuff!!
im at the first level, just grabbing things around the house to sell and 1 or 2 times a week going to goodwill to pick stuff up. My only questions is how do you pick up traction for people to view your items?
I haven't started yet but this video is huge. It is helping me to clarify more the scenario
Hey, great video! I'm a reseller from Vancouver and currently have sold several hundred dollars in collectables since the summer.
I would definitely consider myself a novice seller but want to reach level 2. Currently spending 6 hours week only on business but I'm thinking more hours and same products? What do u think?
You have probably the best channel on YouTube for reselling. Can you post a link to any videos you've done about how you do your sourcing?
I’m gonna deep clean my room this weekend. Anything I find and don’t use, I’ll try to sell on eBay. I’m thinking of listing 3-5items a day, Mon-Fri. I’ll try to list anything I have for 1-3 months, and once I get the gist of selling online, buying/reselling 7-10 items daily. I’m hoping within 2 years, I can replace my main source of income or at least have consistent supplemental income. I make about $3k a month at my job, but if I can make an extra $2k or even more; that will really help with getting out of my parents house and starting to live independently. I also want to use these funds to eliminate my car loan & increase my investing that i currently have
0-5 items a day
Can we sell branded products buy from Amazon with their bills on eBay ?
Total newbie, and have 7 listings on eBay currently and aiming to list at least 1 a day, but I"m reaching that 10 item limit fast without any sales at the moment.
