How to Sell on eBay For Beginners in 2024 (Step by Step Complete Guide)
Selling items on eBay can be a great way to make some extra money or even start a small business. With the right strategy and a little effort, anyone can become a successful eBay seller. If you’re new to selling on eBay, here’s a step-by-step guide to getting started in 2024.
Step 1: Create an eBay account
The first thing you’ll need to do is create an eBay account. Go to the eBay website and click on the “Register” button. Follow the prompts to set up your account, including entering your personal information and creating a username and password.
Step 2: Research the market
Before you start listing items for sale, it’s important to research the market to see what similar items are selling for. Use the eBay search function to find items like yours and see what they are selling for. This will give you an idea of what price to list your items at.
Step 3: Gather your items for sale
Once you have an idea of what items you want to sell, gather them together and take clear, high-quality photos of each item. Make sure the photos show the item from multiple angles and accurately represent its condition.
Step 4: Create your listings
To create a new listing, click on the “Sell” button at the top of the eBay homepage. You’ll be prompted to enter information about your item, including the title, description, and price. Be sure to include as much detail as possible to help potential buyers find your listing.
Step 5: Set your prices and shipping options
When setting your prices, consider the research you did in step 2 and be competitive. You can also choose to offer free shipping or calculate shipping costs based on the buyer’s location.
Step 6: Manage your listings
Once your listings are live, you’ll need to manage them by answering questions from potential buyers, keeping an eye on your inventory, and updating your listings as needed.
Step 7: Complete the sale
When your item sells, you’ll need to package it carefully and ship it to the buyer. Be sure to provide tracking information and communicate with the buyer every step of the way to ensure a smooth transaction.
Step 8: Get paid
After the buyer receives the item, they will hopefully leave positive feedback, and you’ll receive payment for the sale. eBay offers several payment options, including PayPal and credit card payments.
As you gain more experience selling on eBay, you can continue to refine your strategy and increase your success. With dedication and the right approach, selling on eBay can be a rewarding and profitable endeavor for beginners in 2024. Good luck!

oh you except returns . eBay will force you
Dude thanks for this video, God bless
Great summary, thanks! Even with some experience it's good to review the basics. I'm slowly scaling up selling mostly things I own and stuff I picked up to flip but never did. It really is better just to list one item per day (up to 5 if you can be consistent) rather than 5-10 one day and then days off with 0. eBay wants to reward consistent, reliable sellers and regular listing is a metric they look at. Despite the small my sub-20 listings so far, I've been selling 1-2 items a week for a month. Factors in my favor include selling desirable items, providing 10+ good photos (for expensive items), providing a description (amazing how many sellers don't even bother, use AI at least and quickly proofread it) and being willing to tweak the price to encourage sales.
Old af Boomer Profit here. I’m a new seller, about six months in at this point. Enjoyed the video, liked and subscribed.

Regarding selling limit for a new eBay account, can you bypass that if you go straight to signing up for a store? And if not, will it allow you to bank a ton of drafts for later?
Would you ship a video game, ground advantage?
Thanks for helping other learn the reselling game!
2024 we up!! consistency is key.
Hello Adam . Please tell me if, for example, I want to start selling only new sneakers, buying them in various stores, such as Burlington, Ross, etc. at discounts, is it more profitable than buying used goods? In general, is it worth starting sales with new products? Does selling only new products bring more results and income than used ones, considering that I am still just a newbie on eBay. Thank you.
As always!!! Wonderful information. Great refresher even if youve been selling for some time! Appreciate all you do for the community and for me, my business, and my ministry 🙂
Another great video, as always. Thanks for always providing great content Adam.
Great video as always Adam. One question… If you get a sale to let's say to Hawaii or Puerto Rico do you just eat the additional cost to ship?
