Top 3 Internet and Wifi Options for Digital Nomads Living the Van Life

As a digital nomad, maintaining a reliable internet connection is crucial for staying connected with clients, managing work tasks, and maintaining a sense of normalcy while living life on the road. Whether you’re living in a van full-time or just using it as a means of exploring the world, having access to high-speed internet is essential. Here are three of the best options for van life internet for digital nomads:

1. Mobile Hotspots:

One of the simplest and most convenient options for van life internet is a mobile hotspot device. These devices use cell phone towers to provide internet access wherever you go, making them perfect for life on the road. Mobile hotspots are available from most major cell phone providers and can be easily added to your existing plan. They offer reliable, high-speed internet access, with the ability to connect multiple devices at once. This makes them ideal for working on the go or streaming your favorite shows while parked in a remote location.

2. Satellite Internet:

For digital nomads who venture off the beaten path and need reliable internet access in remote locations, satellite internet is a great option. While more expensive than other options, satellite internet provides a reliable connection no matter where you are. With a satellite internet dish mounted on your van, you can access high-speed internet even in the most remote locations. This is a great option for those who need to stay connected for work or simply prefer to have internet access wherever their travels take them.

3. Wifi Boosters/Extenders:

If you prefer to work from cafes, campgrounds, or other public locations, a wifi booster or extender can help ensure you have a strong and reliable internet connection. These devices amplify the existing wifi signal, allowing you to access the internet from a greater distance or in areas with weak signal strength. This is particularly useful for van lifers who like to work from outdoor spaces or remote locations where the wifi signal may be weak. With a wifi booster or extender, you can enjoy a strong, reliable internet connection no matter where your travels take you.

Thank you so much for this video. I am still exploring SUV life but I enjoy going to the national park close by and working from there. So, I do have a business but I couldn't figure out how to find the same plan and AT&T did not know what I was talking about. I may have mixed up the cellphone service with their hot spot service. Would you mind posting the Link with the information on how to get the AT&T business plan with the amount of data that you have? Many thanks.

Nomad Internet is awful. They have no phone number so it is impossible to speak to a live person. The email to contact them is a hit or miss proposition with more miss than hit. Now they no longer offer AT&T or cellular based connectivity where I'm at. After paying them $149 for months, my service was cut off without warning and was told this.
AVOID THIS FLY-BY-NIGHT COMPANY AT ALL COSTS… THEY'RE NOT WORTH THE HASSLE.

It may have been a good video if they hadn't kept changing their screen size every other second.

I have a comment or question maybe you can answer concerning NOMAD internet. I have had nomad internet for a bout two months. When I signed up for NOMAD internet they said they had a router that works great for RVers however the routers I have been sent (4 so far) don't work unless you are plugged into AC shore power. Even though they said their routers work with 12Volt the ones they sent me do not. Did you buy a small inverter for you nomad router?

Thank you guys! Super grateful you mentioned Wyoming / Montana had no reception because that's where I've been thinking about going! Was going to work out of my Toyota Highlander for a few weeks…. but now I may be rethinking if there's no chance I can get work done while there. Anyways, thanks again, I've watched a lot of your other videos as well!

@6:15, does “Verizon’s” offer rollover data in their plans? Just in case you don’t use all of the data you pay for, would they add them to your new plan next time around??

This is so helpful, thank you so much! Charles will be doing grad school from the road and I will be working remote, so this has been a big topic! Did you install the booster during the initial build? We've already finished up our insulation and shiplap so I am not sure how to do that.

What about signal strength? I don't have problems with GB, but some places just have really weak signal, do you use any kind of booster?
