Warning: eBay’s Automatic Payment Feature Is Acting Strange

Ebay has recently made a change to its automatic payment feature that has left many users scratching their heads. The popular online marketplace now requires sellers to opt in to receive payments automatically, rather than automatically enrolling them in the feature.

For many users, this change is unexpected and confusing. The automatic payment feature has long been a staple of Ebay’s platform, allowing sellers to receive their payments quickly and efficiently. By requiring users to opt in to the feature, Ebay is effectively forcing users to take an extra step in order to receive their payments automatically.

This change has left many sellers feeling frustrated and inconvenienced. Some users have reported having to manually enroll in the automatic payment feature after realizing that their payments were no longer being processed automatically. This has led to delays in receiving payments and added stress for sellers who rely on Ebay as a source of income.

In addition to the inconvenience of having to manually opt in to the automatic payment feature, some users have also raised concerns about the security of their payments. By requiring users to manually enroll in the feature, Ebay may be putting users at risk of having their payments delayed or even stolen by unscrupulous individuals.

While Ebay has not provided a specific reason for the change, many users are speculating that it may be related to the company’s efforts to streamline its payment processes. However, the sudden and unexpected nature of the change has left many users feeling frustrated and confused.

For those who rely on Ebay as a source of income, this change is a significant inconvenience. It is unclear why Ebay has made this change, especially given the negative impact it has had on its users. Hopefully, the company will reconsider its decision and revert back to automatically enrolling users in the payment feature to ensure that payments can be received quickly and securely.

In the meantime, sellers should be sure to manually opt in to the automatic payment feature in order to avoid any delays or issues with receiving their payments. Additionally, they should keep an eye on their accounts to ensure that payments are being processed as expected.

Overall, Ebay’s decision to change its automatic payment feature has left many users feeling frustrated and inconvenienced. It remains to be seen whether the company will listen to the feedback from its users and make changes to address their concerns.

This is great. I like that if the person don’t pay it’s still active because on Vendoo I have it set up to delist on other platforms.

Looks like I have my first one of these. I accepted a counter offer then noticed the item is not in my orders and still showing active. I like it though, now our items are not being held hostage for four days for buyers to decide if they don't want to pay.

This doesn't seem to be what's actually happening… at least on my end, it is showing up that rather than accepting the offer, as if I sent a counter-offer back to the buyer for the same amount (which is confusing to buyers who cannot figure out why I didn't just accept their offer). Ie. It's not showing up that they purchased the item but still need to pay within 4 days, it's showing up that they never purchased the item and just got a counter-offer back that they can accept or decline. Very strange.

I accepted an offer but in order for me to cancel is 4 days. It should be 2 days or immediate payment.

I have had to cancel a couple in the last month. For the majority of the time, it is automatic. However, on one of those it was international, and eBay would not allow me to send an invoice because it was international.

That’s so weird I had something similar happened the other day I accepted somebody’s offer, and when it never came through, I went and checked, and it appeared as if I sent them the offer. Then the next day they accepted my offer, even though I was the one who accepted their offer

I did a video on this too, eBay told me it was an ongoing issue and to msg my buyer which was not easy to do, my buyer didn’t receive an invoice or notice until I msg them. They had to open the listing to find a check out page and said that was new to them. It is an issue.

That is something that needed to happen. This is one thing I love about Poshmark. Offer is accepted and paid right away. Long overdue.

To me if you didn't pay for it you didn't buy it. I set up my ebay to automatically cancel unpaid orders after 4 days.

I don't take my listing down from other platforms until a payment is made.

I will never understand why this takes so long given this is the default on every other ecommerce site ever created.

In 25 years, I have had hardly any unpaid items. I maybe get 1 a quarter. I only remember 2 all of 2023 but I maybe forgetting 1. Having 1 a week is crazy.

The last couple month every time i accepted a offer I got paid right away. Three days ago i accepted a offer and it still isn't paid. I just checked if it is still active but it's not. Why do they always have to change things around. It annoys the hell out of me. I was pretty happy that I didn't have unpaid Items for a long time now.

But yet they want to penalize sellers for bad buyer experience? How bad is it to have an item you wanted be bought from under you?
I'm confused about the thought process as well.

We just wanna get paid. One thing they needa work on is the ridicules 30 grace period to return an item. Buyer gets item within seconds and request return…waits last day to return item. Boo! Thought you bay wants to get paid too.

No wonder, I thought I was going crazy that my accepted offers were dissappearing. Thanks for the heads up!

Oooh this happened a couple times to me. I assumed somehow there was a new feature where the buyer was able to back out of the deal after I accepted their offer. This makes more sense. Thanks.

I will definitely list some things now. It was so frustrating waiting just to have to cancel.
