What I Wish I Knew Before Starting Selling on eBay in 2024

Selling on eBay has been a popular way for individuals to make some extra cash for years. As we head into 2024, the landscape of e-commerce continues to evolve and there are a few things I wish I had known before starting my eBay selling journey.

1. Keep up with the trends: In 2024, the e-commerce landscape is constantly changing. To be successful on eBay, it’s important to keep up with the latest trends and technologies. This could include staying on top of popular products, understanding new algorithms, and utilizing social media platforms to drive traffic to your listings.

2. The importance of customer service: Customer service has always been important in any business, but in the world of online selling, it’s crucial. Make sure to respond promptly to customer inquiries, address any issues or concerns in a timely manner, and always strive to provide top-notch service to your buyers. This will not only help you maintain a good seller rating on eBay but also encourage repeat customers and positive feedback.

3. Pricing is key: Finding the right pricing strategy for your products can make a huge difference in your success on eBay. It’s important to research the market, understand your competition, and price your items competitively to attract buyers. Additionally, consider offering promotions, discounts, or free shipping to entice potential customers and stand out in a crowded marketplace.

4. Utilize eBay’s tools and resources: eBay offers a variety of tools and resources to help sellers succeed, such as seller analytics, promoted listings, and seller protection programs. Take advantage of these tools to optimize your listings, track your performance, and protect yourself from potential fraud or disputes. Additionally, consider joining eBay’s seller community for support, advice, and networking opportunities.

You’re a rookie. And your assessments are way off. 20 years here and scams occur much more than one in 1200. Nice try

The best advice is don’t sell on Ebay. I am selling just to get rid of my inventory. I don’t buy new inventory. Get a job with a good company that offers benefits. eBay is a losing proposition

I have bought several items, paid immediately and left positive feedback when items are received. At this moment in time, nobody has left a feedback for me. Has anyone else had this problem???

Excellent tip about buying on eBay to build up your reputation! This comes with perfect timing because I’ve drastically cut my purchases on Amazon now because their customer service is terrible compared to when I first bought from them 18 years ago.
